An online tarot chat is a private, real-time text conversation with a tarot reader or astrologer, who draws cards or looks at your chart and answers your question as you talk. On Vaelory the first 3 minutes are free, and after that you pay per minute in Lumens, only for the time you actually spend chatting.
If you have never had a reading online, it can feel unclear what happens after you press "start". This guide walks through the whole process, from choosing an expert to what you pay and what to do if something goes wrong.
Step 1: choose an expert
Every expert has a profile with their specialty (tarot, astrology, love and relationships), a short bio and their price per minute. You can see who is online right now. There is no wrong choice: many people pick the reader whose description simply feels right, and you can always try someone else next time.
Step 2: start the chat and ask your question
The chat opens like any messenger. Your expert says hello and asks what is on your mind. The clearer your question, the more useful the reading — for example "What do I need to understand about where this relationship is going?" works better than "Will he come back?". We wrote a separate guide on how to ask a tarot reader a good question.
A tarot reader will usually draw a small spread — often three cards — and explain what each card means for your situation. An astrologer may ask for your date, time and place of birth to look at your chart. You can ask follow-up questions at any point; it is a conversation, not a recording.
Step 3: the free minutes and the timer
Your first chat on Vaelory includes 3 free minutes with the expert of your choice, and you do not need to add a card to start. A timer shows how long you have been talking. Before the free time ends you will see a reminder, so you can decide calmly whether to continue.
How much does it cost?
After the free minutes, chats are paid in Lumens, Vaelory's in-site currency. Each expert sets a rate per minute; a typical rate is 39 Lumens per minute, which is about $1.95 at the price of the smallest package. Lumens come in packages:
- 100 Lumens — $4.99
- 220 Lumens — $9.99
- 500 Lumens — $19.99
- 1000 Lumens — $34.99
- 2500 Lumens — $79.99
Your first purchase also gets 100 bonus Lumens. There is no subscription: Lumens are only deducted while a chat is running, and unused Lumens stay on your balance for next time. On the website you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay; in the Android app purchases go through Google Play.
Is it private?
Your conversation is private: other users and other experts cannot see it. Experts see your nickname and the profile answers you gave when you signed up (such as your zodiac sign), but not your email or payment details. You can delete your account and chat history at any time from your profile.
What a reading can and can't do
A good reading helps you look at a situation from a new angle, name what you are feeling and think about your next step. It is not a guarantee of the future, and it is not a replacement for medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. Readings on Vaelory are offered for entertainment and self-reflection, and no expert will sell you spells, rituals or "curse removal".
What if something goes wrong?
If a technical problem cut your chat short, or you bought a package by mistake and have not used it, write to hello@vaelory.com. Unused packages can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. If an expert behaved inappropriately, you can report them directly from the chat.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a credit card to try an online tarot chat?
No. On Vaelory your first 3 minutes are free and you can start without adding a card. You only pay if you decide to continue.
How long is a typical tarot chat?
Many questions can be explored in 10 to 20 minutes. You control the length: the chat continues only as long as you want and stops when you end it or your balance runs out.
Can I talk to the same reader again?
Yes. You can save your favourite experts and start a new chat with them whenever they are online. Your previous conversation history stays in your account.
